Bill and Nicola


Bill and Nicola have been sailing for many years… England, Australia, Africa, New Zealand, South Pacific and the Caribbean. They warmly welcome you aboard Quest for the sailing vacation of a lifetime.

Both from England, it wasn’t until a stint of traveling in New Zealand that they met one another while sailing in the windy capital of Wellington. Deciding to make New Zealand their home they bought an offshore racing boat, an ex-Sydney to Hobart race winner. With a number of trophies collected, many nautical miles logged around the New Zealand coastline and many excellent memories they decided that they wanted to make sailing their lifestyle…

In 2001, Bill completed an Atlantic crossing on a 47 ft catamaran from South Africa to Annapolis, which took him via the Caribbean. Being ‘wowed’ in particular by the BVI, he endeavored to find a job for both himself and Nicola… And the rest is, as they say, history.

Bill, previously a high school teacher, is a licensed RYA Yachtmaster. Nicola, previously a financial analyst, is a PADI DiveMaster; she has dived in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Caribbean. They have crewed together in the Caribbean for 2 years, running charter catamarans. Between them they will show you the sights above and below water.

Nicola and Bill both take food and drink very seriously. Nicola has developed her own unique cooking style from her extensive travels; most of the mouthwatering dishes come with a story of where they were learned. She will specifically develop a menu to your tastes. Bill is fanatical about cocktails and wines, so much so that they have just bought a small piece of land in one of New Zealand’s wine regions.
