PROFILE Captain Lee Adams and Nina Groves Lee grew up on South Africa's beautiful Cape of Good Hope. Much of Lee’s inspiration to lead his life out on the sea was formed from his grandfather, an officer in the South African Navy for 50 years! Lee first worked as a entertainment and events co-ordinator in the Dubai Hilton, and enjoys to creating and providing new experiences for the inexperienced! Lee started sailing at the age of 19 and has completed a circumnavigation of the globe. He has over 40,000 nautical miles under his belt, enabling him to have sailed around some awesome and very isolated Islands in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Lee has a wealth of knowledge within all aspects of sailing and has a natural way of encouraging others that are keen to learn. Lee has spent considerable sailing time on traditional, gaff-rigged wooden ships where the art of rigging and rope work is considered as much of a passion as Lee's love for the sea. Through his years spent on the world's oceans, Lee has always studied the theoretical side of sailing, and he has easily attained all his captain's licenses, and lately has enjoyed a new passion for celestial navigating via the stars. Nina grew up in Devonshire, an area of England perhaps noted most for the inhabitants' relationship with the sea (and of course the local cream). Nina discovered an enthusiasm for the culinary arts at a very early age, and in her school holidays, began acquiring her skills from an Italian chef in a local hotel. At 19, Nina was eager to travel, and soon found herself catering to guests at private ski chalets in the Italian and French Alps. Seasons on the island of Cyprus and the coast of Portugal in luxury villas soon followed. Shortly
thereafter, at the age of 24, Nina discovered sailing, and
though it sounds cliche, immediately found happiness with the sea and
the vast components to be learnt and mastered there. Nina has also completed
a circumnavigation, and she has a dream to build a boat with Lee. Nina and Lee are certain that aboard Elektra, whatever your tastes you will be tantalised and your holiday will be an all together Elektrafying experience! |

Letters from guests aboard Elektra Aboard in June, 2006 TO: Lee Adams and Nina Groves Hello, Just wanted you to know the absolute wonderful time we had aboard Elektra!! We have all been down to the USVI and the BVI’s before and sailed, but this trip was by far the best we’ve ever sailed! Elektra was sharply decked out and our cabins had a very warm welcoming touch to them. We want you to know that you have been the best crew, you were right on top of anticipating our needs and wants. Your team work was great, you never interrupted us while you performed the tasks necessary for the charter. We appreciated, even though we filled out preference sheets, checking with us while on the charter to see if there was something we wanted to change or something new we wanted to try. We got to anchor in some new spots this time and that was great. Your knowledge of the different Islands was very helpful, with your input we found some nice new shopping areas! Thanks from us shoppers in the group!! Nina, from the setting of the table, presentation of the food and cooking skills your meals were superb!! And by the way best homemade hot chocolate I have had since my trip to Europe 6 years ago! And Lee, your sailing skills and knowledge of yachts/boats are very impressive! You both make a great team, and it shows that you love what you do, and you do it well! And from the tasty meals, to the carefree sailing to the beautiful beaches and Islands you took us to you made our trip a very memorable one. How are you going to top that next year?? Anyone chartering Elektra will thoroughly enjoy their trip with such beautiful yacht and you two as the crew. Thanks
for the great memories! |
